Being the first person to do anything in life is impressive and that is seemingly where Antoinette Harris finds herself. She has been a part of the East Los Angeles College football team in the recent past but, this week, Harris announced that she received a scholarship offer from NAIA Bethany College.

As a result, she is believed to be the first female football player in such a role and the defensive back announced the offer on Twitter.
This isn't the first time Harris has been nationally recognized, as she garnered headlines while trying out for the Toledo football team in 2014. At the time, she indicated she wanted to be the first female NFL player and told TheRocketNation.com about her mindset in the moment.
"I want people to believe in me and not doubt me. There aren't a lot of supporters for a female player but if it were your child you would support them. Anything is possible with God, I've been adopted several times, I've been mentally and physically abused, I've had to keep my head up, and you just have to keep going no matter how hard the struggle is. I have been homeless, molested and adopted; I'm going to make it I know I am."
Obviously, playing at the NAIA level isn't identical to playing at the FBS level in the MAC but this is, by all accounts, wildly impressive. Congratulations to Antoinette Harris and we wish her the best.
