Update on Arch Manning Amidst Injury

Arch Manning says he's ready.

But Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has kept Manning limited this spring due to injury. That was always the plan. No surprises there.

Now comes the update everyone was waiting for.

"I feel 100% right now," Manning said during a media session, per On3. "We're taking it slow, but if we had a game today I would play."

That is encouraging. It is not a green light just yet.

Texas is still easing him back, and he is not expected to do much during Saturday's Fan Day at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The bigger picture matters more.

Sept. 5 is when it really starts. Texas State comes to town. Ohio State follows in a marquee nonconference matchup. That is the target.

In the meantime, Manning has been watching. Learning. Taking mental reps while others handle the workload.

KJ Lacey is back in the mix. MJ Morris arrives via the transfer portal. Dia Bell is the latest high-profile recruit. Plenty of arms getting work.

For Manning, it has been a different kind of challenge.

"It was hard on me," he said. "Not being able to run or do anything was hard. But I feel like it was good rest for my body."

That last part matters. Manning took a pounding late last season, especially in wins over Texas A&M and Michigan, where his legs became a major factor. Now, he is recovering, resetting and looking to hit 2026 at full strength.

The timeline feels clear. Texas is not rushing. Manning says he is ready.

Somewhere in the middle is where this lands.
