The website reported on Tuesday that Baylor was "zeroing in" on SMU head coach Chad Morris to take over for interim coach Jim Grobe. Grobe became the head coach after the school fired Art Briles over the program's sexual assault scandal, but it was iterated at the time that Grobe wasn't necessarily the permanent solution.

Morris, a former offensive coordinator under Dabo Swinney at Clemson, is in his second year as the head coach at SMU. While Morris was unimpressive in his first season with a 2-10 record, he has started to turn things around for the Mustangs this season; SMU is 5-6 so far, including a big win over Houston earlier in the year.

Football Scoop is also reporting that Baylor still plans to take a shot at Houston head coach Tom Herman, and even former LSU coach Les Miles had been connected to the opening. However, it appears the school is more focused on the realistic option that is Morris.
