Baylor’s new AD could reunite with this big-name head coach

This would be a huge get.

Apparently Jim Grobe is not the long term coach of the Baylor program.

Grobe was named the acting Bears head coach after the Art Briles firing, but rumors that Houston head coach Tom Herman could be Baylor's next head coach surfaced not long after the hiring of new athletic director Mack Rhoades. Rhoades was hired away from Missouri, but he was previously the athletic director at Houston, where he hired Herman away from Ohio State.

Apparently those are more than rumors, as there are now two separate reports say that Herman has indeed met with Baylor about their head coaching position.

Herman led Houston to a 13-1 record in 2015, which included a Peach Bowl win over Florida State. Herman has downplayed the possibility of looking for a job in a Power 5 conference, but it looks like being re-united with his old athletic director could be enough to pull him away from Houston.

Baylor is looking to rebuild after the sexual assault scandal that eventually cost Art Briles his job. It has also cost the Bears several high-profile recruits, and Herman is just the guy that Baylor needs to quickly put the program back together. However, per another report, Herman isn't necessarily on board.

Herman does have a good situation at Houston, where he just received a raise to $3 million per year. Of course, Baylor could probably top that offer, but does Herman want to take the risk? For now, it looks like his camp is denying it, but we will have to wait and see.
