An absurd number of teams apparently want to join the Big 12

It looks like interest in the Big 12 is at an all-time high.

According to Oklahoma president David Boren, 25 teams have submitted interest in joining the Big 12.

The Big 12 is looking to expand to raise its profile among the Power 5 conferences. As of now, the Big 12 is still the only one without a conference championship game, and expansion would help expedite that process. Though the NCAA ruled that the Big 12 could have a conference championship game with just 10 teams, it would make a lot more since to get to 12 teams first.

Of course, they could also just go straight to 14 teams if they really have this much interest. Teams in play could include BYU, Houston, and Memphis, but with 25 teams to choose from, the Big 12 could really leverage themselves into any available team that they want.
