Rick Neuheisel is no longer a head coach, as he now works with SEC coverage for CBS Sports. Since he does not have an obligation to any team, Neuheisel has a bold proposal that he thinks one of his old squads should follow: UCLA to the Big 12.
No, seriously.
Here is what the former UCLA, Colorado, and Washington head coach had to say on Sirius XM:
UCLA just left Adidas for cash. They went to Under Armour, right? If there were a reason to do it, if all of the sudden... you take Los Angeles and put it into the Big 12 market where Texas and football are king, it would have a huge impact.
With the idea of UCLA in the Big 12 seems completely crazy, Neuheisel's reasoning is actually not that bad. UCLA football has almost always been over-shadowed by USC in terms of the Los Angeles market, and getting a chance to open up into new markets could be a very shrewd business decision.

The big downside of Neuheisel's argument, though, is that it completely ignores every other sport. While football may make the most money for the majority of schools, UCLA has carved out a great reputation of being across all sports. Both basketball and baseball are important parts of the UCLA program, and it isn't immediately evident that a move to the Big 12 would make up for the culture that the Bruins have throughout the rest of the program.
However, money could be the big lure here. We wouldn't count on this move happening, but if it did, it would drastically shake up college football and set up for another round of realignment.
