That's actually a smart idea not to hire an agent right now.

Kansas fans were pretty excited when Cheick Diallo signed with the Jayhawks in the 2015 class. There were some roadblocks from the NCAA as he missed the first exhibition game of the season and a few regular season games before finally being cleared to play. The time missed by the big man stalled Diallo's growth under coach Bill Self and so he didn't get to play very many minutes each game.

The time he did play was mostly spell other bigs for foul trouble and to get some hustle boards and points. He only averaged 7.5 minutes per game to go with three points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. However, the hype for him was big enough out of high school for him to think declaring for the NBA Draft was a good idea.

He made the right choice by not hiring an agent as it will allow him to come back to school if he doesn't like where he might fall in the Draft. The new NCAA rule allows for kids to come back to school as long as they pull out of the draft less than 10 days after the NBA Combine. That could very well happen for Diallo as he did not show off any skills other than having a high motor.
