Paul Finebaum spouted off earlier this week about the possibility (or, in his terms, likelihood) that the Oklahoma Sooners could be looking to exit the Big 12 conference at the very earliest chance. In response, Oklahoma president David Boren addressed the topic on Thursday and, as you might expect, he downplayed the notion considerably in speaking with the Tulsa World. (h/t ESPN)

"We're not desperate to go anywhere else. We're in pretty stable position with the Big 12."
Indicating that the Big 12 provides a "pretty stable position" isn't exactly an off-the-charts endorsement but, in the same breath, Boren was very clear that the Sooners aren't going anywhere quickly. Within the same interview, he discounted any financial issues and, with regard to movement to another league, Boren shared this:
"It's very important to always have the possibility of making a move, if we want to," Boren said. "The question is, are you in a conference that's going to have a chance to play for national championships and going to be in playoffs?"
Oklahoma, along with Texas, is in the driver's seat of a successful league and it is sometimes nice to be in that chair. Should anything happen with regard to either program and a switch, the Big 12 would be in trouble but, until then, things look to be alright.
