Briles has been once of the most successful coaches in Baylor history, elevating the program to national title contender status during his tenure. The Bears are still a trendy pick for 2016, as quarterback Seth Russell will return from a neck injury.
However, recent reports point to an excessive amount of violent incidents by Baylor's football players, all of which reflect poorly on Briles's handling of the program. Among those allegations are that Baylor did not properly investigation sexual assault allegations faced by football players in the manner required by Title IX.

Former football players Tevin Elliott and Sam Ukwuachu were both convicted of sexual assaults relating to their time at the school. Ukwuachu didn't even see the field with the Bears after he transferred from Boise State.
Players were tweeting out their support of the coach after they found out he was fired:
It seems the cat got out of the bag as the announcement was supposed to take place at noon on the east coast and these tweet came a little under an hour before that.
Briles was 65-37 in his eight seasons at Baylor. He was 3-3 in bowl games, including two berths in BCS bowl games.
