Texas lost 49-31 to Oklahoma State on Saturday, with the Longhorns essentially collapsing on defense and special teams. After the game, Texas athletic director Mike Perrin had an interesting comment that many interpreted as a threat to head coach Charlie Strong's job security.

ESPN had a different report after those comments, though, saying that Strong had at least the rest of the season and potentially the 2017 season to impress the school.

According to that report, the "defensive staff may be sacrificed" this offseason to give Strong another shot in 2017.

Strong probably deserves that fourth season. Strong built up Louisville as the head coach there, going a combined 23-3 in his final two seasons with the Cardinals. He has proven himself as a coach before and getting rid of him after three seasons or less might not be the best idea.
Strong is currently 13-16 in his career with the Longhorns.
