Texas player lights up Notre Dame receiver on nasty hit and somehow doesn't get ejected for targeting

That is a pretty nasty looking hit.

Texas is giving No. 10 Notre Dame all it can handle right now and is even leading 31-28 going into the fourth quarter. However, the Longhorns might have gotten away with a pretty serious penalty that usually draws an ejection.

Notre Dame receiver Torii Hunter Jr. was coming across the middle of the end zone and had a perfect catch for a touchdown, but was completely annihilated by DeShon Elliott of Texas who led with what looked like his helmet and made direct contact with Hunter's helmet.

Hunter was knocked out and will be put through concussion protocol. Targeting is reviewable now even if it was not called on the field so people are understandably confused and upset by the no-call. And this pretty much sums up everyone's feelings on how the targeting penalty is ruled on and reviewed.

If only this rule had some sort of consistency in the way it's called.
