Texas writer predicts stunning turnaround for Tom Herman’s Longhorns

Excuse me?

Chip Brown is a long-time Texas Longhorns writer/reporter for Scout.com, but his latest prediction may have some wondering if he's been doing this for too long.

Brown, who is respected in this field, keep in mind, recently came out with an article detailing a big-time prediction for the Longhorns, who are entering the very first season of the Tom Herman era.

This was a big enough prediction that Brown basically tell his readers to sit down. With a title like "ARE YOU SITTING DOWN?!?!? (MY SEASON PREDICTION FOR TEXAS)" and an article that includes a disclaimer in the begging, you know it's not going to be a prediction for a .500 season.

The disclaimer, don't get your hopes up. The other disclaimer? Brown is predicting this based on Texas being healthy at quarterback and both on the offensive and defensive lines. That's not necessarily a tall order, but we all know the game of football can be physical.

Ok, here we go. Here's Brown:

As long as Texas stays healthy at QB, on the O-line and D-line, the Longhorns will go 12-1 this season, including a Big 12 title game victory over Oklahoma State that will send the Longhorns into the College Football Playoff.

I'm betting on Tom Herman and his staff the same way Herman has bet on himself, finding success (and success early) at every stop he's made as a coach: Sam Houston State, Texas State, Rice, Iowa State, Ohio State and as the head coach at Houston.

Brown is right in his assessment of Herman. The new Texas coach is one of the top young coaches in college football and he has a history of getting things done quickly. He just recently made the

He just recently turned the Houston Cougars around, making them a pre-season CFP dark horse last season before the wheels fell off, and he was a very successful assistant at Ohio State before that.

Herman seems to be the real deal, but a 12-1 season including the CFP?

That's the tall order, but to Brown's credit — it's not impossible.
