No. 1 Alabama
Oct 8. at Arkansas
It's possible that this is Alabama's toughest remaining game of the regular season. Yes, potentially tougher than Texas A&M and at Tennessee. Arkansas gave Alabama a decent run last year, and despite losing their starting quarterback and running back from last year, the Razorbacks have actually improved on offense.
The big trick with the Arkansas game for Alabama is that it is the beginning of a tough four-game stretch for the Crimson Tide. After this, Alabama has at Tennessee, Texas A&M, an off week, and then at LSU. Considering that even Nick Saban has said that Tennessee is Alabama's biggest game of the year, this week's game against Arkansas has trap game written all over.
Yes, even Alabama and a tactician as great as Saban can be prone to trap games.
No. 15 Stanford
Oct. 8 vs. Washington State
I'm not actually sure how much of an upset this would be. Washington State is pretty good, and while Stanford is ranked No. 15, we don't really have anything that shows they should be ranked that high, especially after a 44-6 loss to Washington.
Washington State doesn't have the defense that Washington does, but they are definitely capable of having a more potent offensive attack. Considering that Stanford hasn't exactly lit it up on offense in any game so far, there is definitely a chance that the Cougars simply outscore Christian McCaffrey and co.
No. 20 Oklahoma
Oct. 8 vs. Texas
Charlie Strong isn't technically coaching for his job in this game, but he might as well be. There have been talks that Texas could replace him at the end of the season, so if wants to right the ship for the Longhorns, it is going to have to happen here.
Strong will be taking over the defensive coordinator duties in this game, so I think there will at least be a one-game boost in the performance of Texas' defense. Considering that Oklahoma's defense might be just as bad, that is all the Longhorns will need in order to steal a win.
