With Art Briles out, this "popular" SEC coordinator is now in the running to become Baylor's next coach

Not this guy!

Baylor head coach Art Briles has been fired and the search for a new head coach has already begun. Interestingly, the rest of the staff is still there and has not been let go either.

Many people believe that the next Baylor coach has to have strong ties to Texas recruiting, but according to Bill Bender of Sporting News there might be a coordinator from the SEC who could work around that. Bender put Lane Kiffin on his list of top 10 replacements for Briles and here's his reasoning:

"It's not going to happen this year, but Kiffin is going to be a candidate for every major coaching search provided he continues to work wonders as Alabama's offensive coordinator under Nick Saban. This stage actually might not be big enough for Kiffin, who will have his pick of jobs if Alabama has another big season."

Bender makes an interesting point about Kiffin not thinking it might even be a big enough job for him as he will likely have his pick of the litter sooner or later so long as Alabama's offense keeps looking superb. The next head coaching job Kiffin takes —- should he want it —- will be his fourth after leading the Oakland Raiders to a 5-15 record, USC to a 28-15 record and Tennessee to one season of 7-6 play.
