As first reported by Scout.com, Illinois offensive lineman Darta Lee was arrested on Wednesday morning in Champaign, Illinois.
According to the arrest report, Lee was booked at 6:27 a.m. in a local jail, where he is facing charges of home invasion and armed robbery. Lee currently has an arraignment date set for Thursday.
As a true freshman in 2016, Lee started in two games for the Fighting Illini. According to Scout, Lee was the first true freshman offensive lineman to start in Week 1 in over 20 years. The former three-star recruit was likely to be a bigger part of Illinois' offensive line for the 2017 season, but that is now up in the air as Lee faces criminal charges.
