If the College Football Playoff were in the hands of the Associated Press, it looks like we would be getting Alabama vs. Washington and Michigan vs. Clemson.

The AP Poll has those schools as the Top 4 teams following Week 8, where Ohio State and Texas A&M both suffered defeats. Ohio State got some benefit of the doubt from the AP — at least compared to the Coaches Poll — as the Buckeyes only dropped to No. 6 after the loss to previously unranked Penn State.
Penn State is now ranked No. 24. It's been a while for the Nittany Lions, so apparently the AP couldn't believe it either.
The biggest winner of the weekend? Potentially Auburn, who moves up to No. 15 in the AP Poll after a 56-3 (that's not a typo) win over Arkansas, who was ranked No. 17 last week. The Razorbacks fell out of the poll completely.
