Best Team of the 21st Century Bracket: 2008 Florida v 2002 Ohio State

The 2008 Florida Gators won the 2009 BCS National Championship by finishing the season 13-1 and beating Oklahoma 24-14 in the Orange Bowl. The 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes went 14-0 and won the 2003 BCS National Championship, defeating Miami in the Fiesta Bowl, 31-24. Now, you get to decide which of these two teams would win in a game against each other, here is the tale of the tape.

2008 Florida Gators: The second of Urban Meyer's two national championship winning teams at Florida, where the Gators were led by Heisman Trophy winning QB Tim Tebow as well as a terrific cast of skill position players like WR Percy Harvin, WR Louis Murphy, and TE Aaron Hernandez. The offense averaged 43.6 points per game, good for 4th in the nation that year, and torched nearly every opponent in their path. The defense was led by future NFL stars LB Brandon Spikes and CB Joe Haden and held teams to just 12.9 points per game in 2008, also goo for 4th in the nation that year. The Gators' 30.7 point margin of victory would put them 4th among the 18 teams that made this bracket.

2002 Ohio State Buckeyes: The Buckeyes earned an upset of the favored Miami Hurricanes — who were reigning National Champions — and behind freshman phenom RB Maurice Clarett, Ohio State ran to a perfect 14-0 season and the title. Along with Clarett, the Buckeyes' offense was led by QB Craig Krenzel and WR Michael Jenkins and that unit scored 29.3 points per game. The Buckeyes defense that year was no joke, allowing just 13.1 points per game. They were led up front by DE Will Smith, with a great linebacking corps starring A.J Hawk and Bobby Carpenter, and a secondary led by CB Chris Gamble and S Mike Doss.
