Former four-star QB announces retirement despite a chance at starting this year

That stinks.

Former four-star and North Carolina quarterback Caleb Henderson announced that he will be retiring from football this season despite having a legitimate shot at starting for Maryland. He took to Twitter to make his announcement, but also said he would stick with the team in an off-field role.

Henderson appeared in two games this year and did not complete the one pass he attempted. He had the same stat line in 2015 when he was with the Tar Heels. The Virginia native was ranked as the No. 10 pro-style passer in the 2014 class and was the No. 7  recruit in the state according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
