Cam Cameron has enjoyed an impressive career as a football coach and, if things align perfectly, he could be returning to where it all began. The former LSU offensive coordinator and Miami Dolphins head coach is currently without employment for the 2018 season but, according to a report from The Michigan Insider, Cameron already interviewed with Jim Harbaugh about an open post in Ann Arbor.
Cameron was employed by Michigan for many years, beginning as a graduate assistant before ascending to a position coach role. From there, he flashed to the NFL for a brief stint before returning to Indiana, where he graduated, to serve as that program's head coach. After leaving Indiana following the 2001 season, Cameron eventually won a Super Bowl as a coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012.
Since then, he is best known for his work at the professional level and Cameron also had a three-season run as the offensive coordinator under Michigan Man Les Miles in Baton Rouge. It remains to be seen as to the specifics of what role Cameron would inhabit at Michigan if he is hired, but the Wolverines only have nine full-time assistants at the moment, leaving a post open for this kind of opportunity.
This certainly would not qualify as a "sexy" hire for a program that just experienced a brutal recruiting cycle but, if Cam Cameron is simply a program's tenth assistant, he is likely overqualified for the job.
