Well if Purdue is hoping to make a splashy hire after firing head coach Darrell Hazell, this would certainly qualify.
247Sports is reporting that current Youngstown State and former Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini has interest in the Purdue job.
"He would definitely be interested in this job," a source who coached under Pelini told 247Sports this week. "I think he would make a more immediate impact more than any other guy I believe. He would change that culture real quick."

While Pelini didn't win any titles with Nebraska from 2008 to 2014, he was very successful at keeping the Cornhuskers relevant. Nebraska won at least nine games in each of Pelini's seven seasons, and Pelini accumulated a 67-27 total record during his time in Lincoln.
Pelini was fired after the 2014 season due to personal differences with the administration at Nebraska, but at just 48, it was only a matter of time before Pelini was able to get another coaching gig in the Power 5. While Purdue might not be a perfect job, it would be a good place for Pelini to start out fresh and attempt to raise his coaching profile back up.
Pelini would also get a chance to get back at Nebraska as an in-conference rival, which seems like something he would enjoy.
