The Michigan Wolverines spent Spring Practice in Rome and, in the process, shook up the college football world with the boldness of that trip. Jim Harbaugh is no stranger to grand gestures and, in order to follow up on that journey across the pond, the always entertaining head coach has decided to attempt to bring on former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to serve as honorary captains for a home football game during the 2017 season.

ESPN brings word from Harbaugh on the process of luring the Obamas while addressing reporters on Saturday.
"We're making those asks. Official asks. In the process of making an official ask. There's been, 'Hey, we'd like you to do it,' and now we're doing official asks."
Harbaugh also made mention of a 39-minute visit with the former President earlier in the week and, if anyone can pull this off, it will be Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines. Beyond that Harbaugh isn't done brokering big-ticket items.
In fact, Sam Cooper of Dr. Saturday reports that Harbaugh is already thinking broadly for spring practice next year.
"Rome was great, there was so much to see. One of the things we thought about after the trip was to go to multiple places, not just stay in one place. There was so much to see in Rome. It was unbelievable. There is in Paris but we're there to see Paris, Normandy and London what we're striving for."
It has to be thoroughly exciting to be a Michigan football player right now and that is part of the Jim Harbaugh experience. In short, the Wolverines stay in the news because that is exactly where their head coach wants the program to be.
