On Monday, it was reported that kicker Joey Julius was no longer with the Penn State football team. It didn't take long for Julius to apparently confirm the news on his Twitter account, thanking the fans for their comments.
Julius appeared to confirm that his eating disorder, something he made public earlier this year as he entered treatment, was not the immediate cause of his departure from the team.
Julius proved to be very effective on kickoffs last year, scoring touchbacks on nearly 50-percent of his kicks. At 5-foot-11 and 260-pounds, Julius really gained a reputation last year of being a hard tackler on kickoffs that were in play, so much so that he became a target by opposing teams.
Without Julius, Tyler Davis is expected to take over kickoffs for Penn State. Davis was been used as the team's field goal kicker last year.
