Kirk Herbstreit rips Big 10 and FOX for missing Joe Mixon's obvious fumble

He's got a point.

Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon was involved in some controversy on the field as he became the latest runner to drop the football before actually scoring a touchdown. Upon first review, anyone watching the game at home could tell that he had dropped the ball before crossing the end zone line, but the officials didn't even bother reviewing it despite the fact all scoring plays are supposed to be reviewed.

Mixon joins Clemson's Ray Ray McCloud and of course DeSean Jackson as guys who dropped the ball a little too early. It wasn't just the fans who noticed though as ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit seemed pretty livid that there was no replay.

And here's the play in real time:

And here's the slo-mo look:

Herbstreit was pretty upset as you can tell in these tweets:

Fortunately, it didn't affect the game too much as Ohio State would still win 45-24. But that is not a good look for replay officials for a second week in a row as the Big 12 officials working the Central Michigan-Oklahoma State game were suspended for allowing CMU to get an untimed down it didn't deserve.
