Four-star WR L'Christian Smith stays in-state with powerhouse commitment

That's a huge add for this already strong recruiting class.

Ohio State added another big piece to its 2018 national recruiting class.

Four-star wide receiver L'Christian (Blue) Smith announced his commitment to the Buckeyes prior to his nationally televised high school football game on Sunday.

"I just felt like it was home," Smith told 247Sports' Bucknuts website. "When I was at the camp (in June) it was the place to be. I felt comfortable in my decision and the opportunity they give players outside of football after they leave college."

Smith chose Ohio State over scholarship offers from Kentucky, Cincinnati, Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee and numerous others. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound receiver met with head coach Urban Meyer in May and was told that he would play wide receiver for the Buckeyes, but could be switched to an H-back or combination wide receiver/H-back if he continues to get bigger.

Smith made his varsity debut in 2014 as a freshman and recorded 12 receptions before enjoying a breakout season as a sophomore. He helped Wayne High School finish with a 14-1 record and reached the Division I state championship game. Smith finished his sophomore campaign with 54 receptions for 1,311 yards and 17 touchdowns.

As a junior, he recorded 43 receptions for 736 yards and nine touchdowns, leading his school to an 11-1 record and a third-round finish in the D-1 playoffs.
