The LSU Tigers are set to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in Green Bay to start the season on Saturday. The teams will meet at Lambeau Field where the NFL's Packers play. Some people might think that a touchdown means we will get to see the famous "Lambeau Leap" into the stands, but that won't be the case on Saturday.
While it's an awesome experience for the players and fans on Sundays, it is not allowed by the NCAA on Saturdays.
In the section of the NCAA rules that addresses unsportsmanlike conduct fouls, a penalty would occur after, "Any delayed, excessive, prolonged or choreographed act by which a player (or players) attempts to focus attention upon himself (or themselves)." The rules also prohibit, "Going into the stands to interact with spectators, or bowing at the waist after a good play."
Now who's the No Fun League? And to make sure his players understood the consequences he made it quite clear on the SEC teleconference Wednesday morning that he was not having any Lambeau Leaps in his game.
"I promise you that if anybody jumps (for) the Lambeau Leap, they'll end up with their thumb out to see if they can get a ride home," Miles said. Hitch hiking back to Baton Rouge from Green Bay would not be an enjoyable experience and surely would get some players thinking twice before leaping into those stands.
