ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit clarifies statement after stirring up the rumor mill on College GameDay

Herbstreit caused a bit of a stir with his comments on Saturday.

Michigan's Jim Harbaugh has been involved in rumors ever since he took the job in Ann Arbor, as many have openly speculated on if Harbaugh will ever jump back to the NFL.

Those rumors had mostly calmed down in the past month after Michigan went on a three-game win streak, which is why Kirk Herbstreit inciting some more rumors about a potential Harbaugh exit on Saturday's edition of College GameDay rose some eyebrows around college football.

It was enough that Herbstreit later clarified his position, saying that he was referencing previous rumors and a chaotic coaching carousel moreso than any new ones.

To be clear...I wasn't suggesting on @CollegeGameDay this am that Jim Harbaugh is leaving UM but how many different rumored scenarios are out there. Personally hope he stays in AA till he retires. Think it's GREAT he's back home. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Harbaugh is currently in his third season with Michigan, and the Wolverines sit at 8-3 this year after a 24-10 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday. Michigan is 28-9 overall in Harbaugh's tenure so far.

Michigan plays Ohio State next Saturday.
