The play was not only flagged for targeting, but it was reviewed and somehow upheld even that's a hit on the quarterback that is quite common. He didn't launch himself like a spear, he didn't make helmet-to-helmet contact and it wasn't roughing the passer since the QB had just released the ball. As of now, McDowell will be suspended for the first half of the game against BYU next week.
