Blake Corum Makes Michigan History During Big Ten Championship vs Iowa

After an impressive career with the Michigan Wolverines, running back Blake Corum has made program history during Saturday's Big Ten Championship against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Corum has tied the all-time rushing touchdown record with 55 rushing touchdowns with Anthony Thomas, who was at Michigan from 1997-2000. Corum has had at least 10 rushing touchdowns in the past three seasons, and has had a rushing touchdown in every game this season. He's had a rushing touchdown in 22 out of 23 games over the last two seasons, with Ohio State being the one game where he was held scoreless.

The veteran running back is leading the nation in rushing touchdowns this season and was fifth in the nation last year. He has 42 rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons, the most over that span. He has been one of the best running backs in the entire country, and will most likely be entering the NFL draft after this season.

Corum has over 1,000 yards rushing for the second-consecutive season and was close in 2021 with 952 rushing yards. He is currently eighth all-time in career rushing yards with 3,468 rushing yards before the Big Ten Championship game and is also eighth in single-season rushing yards with 1,463 rushing yards in 2022. He is second in Michigan history for a single season with 24 rushing touchdowns this season and has a chance to break the all-time record set by Albert Herrnstein with 26 rushing touchdowns in 1902. He is also tied for fifth all-time for the single-game record for rushing touchdowns with five against Connecticut last season.

The record-tying touchdown helped Michigan take a 20-0 lead in the Big Ten Championship.

Michigan is on the verge of another College Football Playoff appearance with a win. They are hoping to finally get a win in the College Football Playoff after being upset by TCU last season. With Georgia losing to Alabama today, Michigan is most likely the top seed in the playoff if they do hold on to win.
