Big Ten defender ejected after the weakest targeting call of the season

This is deplorable officiating.

Northwestern got drilled by No. 4 Penn State 31-7, but they tried to get their own good drilling in on this particular play. Like Northwestern often does, it missed the mark on the potentially huge tackle, but the refs still called a targeting. Here's a look at the play:

Godwin Igwebuike was called for the targeting and it somehow held up even after review. He cleared missed any helmet-to-helmet contact and hit the runner's shoulder with his own. He avoided every major point you need to earn a targeting, but got hit with one anyway. The Wildcats just can't catch a break as Igwebuike will miss the first half of his next game at Maryland.
