Former college football powerhouse calls its shot with blowout prediction against Michigan

Have they lost it?

Notre Dame used to be considered a powerhouse except for the last few years where they have not been great the past few seasons culminating in a 4-8 record last year. That will make their latest recruiting tactic seem a bit strange as they are predicting a ridiculous 48-10 win over rival Michigan and a national championship in the 2019 season:

Not only are they guaranteeing a title and a huge win over Michigan to open the 2018 season —- the first season this recruit would be playing for them —- but they think Houston Griffith could win the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given out to the best defensive back in the country. There are a lot of promises being made here by a program that is seemingly on life support after some mediocre years and one really bad one.

Griffith is a 6'1", 192-pound cornerback in the 2018 class who plays for the IMG Academy in Florida. He's ranked as the No. 8 cornerback and the No. 11 recruit in the state of Florda in the by 247Sports' Composite Rankings. Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska and Ohio State are also believed to be in serious contention according to the 247Sports crystal ball.
