Things just got interesting in the recruitment of four-star defensive back D.J. Johnson.
Johnson had previously named Iowa and Notre Dame as his Top 2 teams, but now it looks like Ohio State could be getting into the mix, as Johnson told Rivals.com that Ohio State is pushing heavily for him ahead of his planned commitment on Aug. 22.
"Ohio State is starting to push a lot more," Johnson said. "I just got off the phone with them (Sunday) and I think they might be offering here soon. I talked to Coach (Kerry) Coombs and Coach (Urban) Meyer."
Johnson also mentioned that he is still "50-50" right now between Iowa and Notre Dame. However, it looks like the Buckeyes may be trying to insert themselves into Johnson's recruitment at the last minute, and it will be something to watch to see if they can make any noise in the week leading up to Johnson's commitment.
Johnson is rated as a four-star cornerback by the 247Sports Composite.
