ESPN predicts four-star QB will flip from Ohio State

Ohio State is reportedly in danger of losing one of its top commitments.

Four-star quarterback Emory Jones is receiving interest from both Alabama and Auburn and could flip to the Tide, according to ESPN Insider's Gerry Hamilton (subscription needed).

Jones' commitment to the Buckeyes has been shaky for months, and he has spent his senior season looking at schools closer to home. While Auburn would like to add a second signal-caller to the class to go with Joey Gatewood, it's the Crimson Tide that are perceived to be the biggest threat to Urban Meyer. Jones has been on campus in Tuscaloosa multiple times this season, including an October official visit. Optimism is higher in Columbus than earlier in the season, but it's difficult to forget what began as smoke early on has turned into a smoldering fire.

Jones, who has been committed to Ohio State since July 2016, ranks as the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback, No. 7 player from the state of Georgia and No. 40 overall prospect for the 2018 national recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports' Composite rankings.

According to 247Sports, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and co-offensive coordinator Ryan Day both visited the Georgia native on Dec. 5. Jones also took two unofficial visits to Auburn last month and was visited by offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey earlier this week.

He's also been rumored to be potentially flipping for some time now as well, so ESPN's report is likely not far off.
