The Ohio State Buckeyes are rolling and there is a growing sentiment that Urban Meyer's team just might be the best team in the country. However, the annual showdown with the Michigan Wolverines looms in late November and, this time around, the visiting team wearing maize and blue just might be up to the challenge.
Still, Paul Finebaum isn't buying the Michigan hype when it comes to dethroning Ohio State and he displayed that in a recent video for ESPN. In the video, Finebaum and colleague Marcus Spears are asked if the Wolverines can stop a four-game losing streak to the Buckeyes and the duo was pretty dismissive (bold emphasis mine):
Spears: "No, because of J.T. Barrett. J.T. Barrett is the truth and Ohio State is rolling. His leadership has risen the young guys' level of play and, to me, Ohio State could be easily number one in the country in college football."
Finebaum: "No, Marcus, no chance. I still love Ohio State."
It is pretty aggressive to suggest that a top-five team led by Jim Harbaugh has "no chance" against Ohio State, even with the caveat that the game will take place in Columbus this season. Michigan has been impressive, especially on defense, in racking up wins so far in 2016 and the Wolverines seem to have turned the corner in terms of team speed and overall talent.
Ohio State is certainly the favorite, given location, as it stands today, but something tells me that Michigan Men everywhere will not take kindly to Finebaum when it comes to this particular comment.
