Ohio State coach cited following car accident

A member of the Ohio State coaching staff was cited in a strange incident.

Just one week ago, word broke that Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano was involved in an accident in which a bicyclist was struck by the coach's car. Now, it appears that Schiano has been cited for the incident.

The Columbus Dispatch brings word of the fallout, though it appears that Schiano is getting off close to scot-free:

The crash occurred at the intersection of Lane Avenue and Fred Taylor Drive around 6:30 a.m. The 26-year-old male bicyclist, whose name has not been released, was transported to a hospital with a head injury. There has been no update on his condition.

Court records show arraignment has been set for Oct. 5 for Schiano who faces a $55 fine and $97 in court costs.

Though Schiano has not been made available to the media, Urban Meyer described his condition as "devastated" in the aftermath of the incident and, with that, Schiano has at least displayed remorse through a third party. It will be interesting to see what the fallout is from the incident, but hopefully, the bicyclist will bounce back to full health in the very near future.

This story probably won't graduate into a full-on national one, but it is certainly weird and noteworthy.
