One team has taken a commanding lead in early 2017 recruiting

We are still almost an entire year away from 2017 National Signing Day, and recruiting classes between now and then will change dramatically as the 2016 season begins and ends.

However, one team is starting to pull away from the pack at an alarming rate, and that team is the Ohio State Buckeyes. Urban Meyer and co. already have 11 commitments for the 2017 class, including two five-stars and eight four-stars. To put that into perspective, most schools do not even have five total commitments for 2017, yet the Buckeyes already have 10 blue-chippers.

Only two teams are relatively close to the Buckeyes so far; Alabama, because of course, and Miami, who also has 11 commitments for 2017, albeit seven of them are three-star recruits.

Even if it is early, the Top 10 over at 247Sports for the 2017 class is very interesting, as it features several non-traditional recruiting powers. Sure, Ohio State, Alabama, and Miami are your Top 3, but Baylor, North Carolina, and Iowa are up there as well. That probably won't be that way when we take a look at the rankings a year from now, but it is interesting nonetheless.
