Skip Bayless is rather famous for saying crazy and, sometimes, indefensible things. That isn't really up for debate at this point, but during a segment on Tuesday morning, the Fox Sports personality went after Bob Stoops... while simultaneously picking the Oklahoma Sooners to upset the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Makes no sense, right?
Well, Bayless is actually an Oklahoma fan and he is apparently fed up with Stoops as a motivator and overall strategist. The overarching takeaway of the thought is that the media (an entity that Bayless is a member of, by the way) has placed Ohio State as the favorite in this particular match-up, sending Oklahoma into something of a "nobody believes in us!" (copyright: Bill Simmons) spot on Saturday.
On one hand, the point Bayless is making does have some level of merit, especially in that Oklahoma has come up empty in several high-profile spots recently. However, there is a level of circular logic that only Bayless can execute at this level, and there are moments that will leave your head legitimately spinning as a result.
Ohio State fans should (I guess?) be worried, though, as Oklahoma is an underdog and that apparently is all Bob Stoops needs to be successful.
