Four-star 2017 offensive tackle Thayer Munford did not even visit Ohio State's campus until the weekend of Jan. 20. Just days later, the talented lineman was giving a pledge to join Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes for the next four years.
Munford, who stands at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, ranks as the No. 26 offensive tackle in the 2017 class according to the 247Sports composite and he is also the No. 10 overall player from the state of Ohio. The massive prospect hails from Washington High School in Massillon (Ohio) and keeping him close to home signifies a big-time victory for Meyer and his staff.
With that in mind, SB Nation's Land-Grant Holy Land provides a bit of a scouting report with regard to what Ohio State fans can expect:
Munford has college-ready size and could compete for a backup offensive tackle position as early as this season. He has long arms and showed the ability to shut down defenders before they even had a chance to make a move. Munford's commitment is a great step in improving the Buckeyes' offensive line depth.
Ohio State continues to roll on the recruiting trail, with 247Sports placing the Buckeyes behind only Alabama at No. 2 overall in terms of team rankings. This is, of course, nothing new under the leadership of Urban Meyer but the Ohio State faithful can celebrate yet another stud prospect with the addition of Thayer Munford.
