Phil Steele predicts the AP top 10 and SEC fans will be happy

Certainly an interesting prediction.

The Associated Press won't give us our first poll until August, but that doesn't mean it's too early to predict how the media members might vote. College football expert Phil Steele took a jab at it and there are some interesting teams that made it into the top ten like Tennessee and Michigan.

Here is Steele's AP Poll prediction for the top ten teams come August:

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Oklahoma
4. Florida State
5. LSU
6. Ohio State
7. Michigan
8. Baylor
9. Stanford
10. Tennessee

He believes that LSU returning a Heisman favorite in Leonard Fournette as well as 17 other starters will be huge and thinks Tennessee will get a lot of love because of running back Jalen Hurd and quarterback Josh Dobbs as well as 15 other returning starters.

It makes sense to have Clemson so high with all the returning starters on offense including a Heisman candidate in Deshaun Watson. The defense will have to find its playmakers with guys like Shaq Lawson, T.J. Green and Mackensie Alexander gone.Remember, the AP Poll doesn't factor into the CFP rankings, but it does help with perception for the committee members.
