Ryan Day Bashed a Legendary Head Coach After Notre Dame Win

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach didn't hold back after the team's win over Notre Dame, taking shots at former Irish coach Lou Holtz.

The Ohio State Buckeyes came away with one of the most dramatic wins of the college football season over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and head coach Ryan Day didn't hold anything back afterwards.

After a dramatic game-winning touchdown with just one second left on Saturday night, the Buckeyes came away with a dramatic 17-14 win over a top-ranked Fighting Irish team. The NBA broadcast interviewed Day immediately following the game, and he made things personal by responding to some comments made by legendary former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz.

"I'd like to know where Lou Holtz is right now," Day said during a postgame interview. "What he said about our team, I cannot believe. This is a tough team right here. We're proud to be from Ohio. It's always been Ohio against the world, and it'll continue to be Ohio against the world. But I'll tell you what: I love those kids. We've got a tough team."

While the comments sound pretty harsh when directed at an 86-year-old retired coach, they were Day's response to what Holtz had to say about his Buckeyes team. Holtz made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show leading up to the game, and predicted the Irish would win by double digits, saying that Ohio State wasn't physical enough to be a legitimate national title contender.

Day was obviously fired up after such a dramatic game, but he's still got plenty of work to do if he wants to help lead Ohio State to another College Football Playoff appearance. The Buckeyes have a matchup against No. 7 Penn State on October 21, followed by their massive rivalry game at the end of the regular season against a Michigan Wolverines team that's firing on all cylinders.

It's still a long road ahead, but Day and Ohio State fans can enjoy this win for at leas a little bit.
