The class of 2017 is filled with some great athletes and C.J. Holmes definitely falls in that category as he is the No. 2 athlete in the state of Connecticut. Holmes dropped his top seven list of schools he's looking at and proved that just because you don't play high school football in SEC country doesn't mean you can't play college ball there.

SEC rivals Tennessee and Alabama obviously stand out here and are definitely known as schools that go out and get great athletes to fill positions of need. The 6'0", 200-pound recruit from Cheshire, Connecticut also has ACC schools Notre Dame and Syracuse —- the Orange are probably the closest of his top 7 schools —- on his list with one Pac 12 school on there in UCLA. His Big Ten portion is rounded out by Michigan and Penn State.
