The brother-in-law of Urban Meyer, Brian Mather has been indicted by a grand jury on several serious counts following allegations Mather tried to rape a woman earlier this year.
Mather faces a Sept. 6 court appearance following his indictment on charges of rape, kidnapping, abduction and gross sexual imposition, according to the Chillicothe Gazette.
Mather is a former police officer in Chillicothe, a small town 49 miles south of Columbus, Ohio, the home of the Buckeyes. Mather resigned in April, just as authorities were completing an investigation and right before he was scheduled to have a disciplinary hearing.
The Chilllicothe Gazette, reporting from court records, said Mather and another man tried to rape a woman in a Chillicothe home. Court records say Mather was intoxicated and the woman has a cell phone video that shows Mather saying he wants her pants off.
Shelley Meyer —- Urban Meyer's wife and Mather's sister —- told TMZ: "I'm not close to the situation. Quite frankly, I'm keeping my distance and I have been for some time."
