Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd no longer believes the SEC is the best conference in college football. During his radio show on Tuesday, Cowherd said beyond Alabama, the SEC isn't a very good conference.

"SEC football right now is not the best conference," Cowherd said. "Its not. If you take Alabama out, where's the beef? It's the most one-sided, lopsided uncompetitive conference. There is no second best program."

Cowherd then compared the SEC to the NBA's Western Conference, and he compared Alabama to the Golden State Warriors.
He said Alabama football has far more talent than any other team in the SEC, and the Warriors have four of the 10 best players in the Western Conference.
"Alabama has had 28 guys drafted in the last five years in the first round alone," Cowherd said. "Just take Alabama's draft picks out. Start looking at the first round of the NFL draft—it's not dominated by the SEC."
Cowherd went on to say the ACC and Big 10 are better football conferences than the SEC, and he said LeBron James' path to the NBA Finals in Eastern Conference was perhaps just as difficult as the Warriors' path.
Cowherd's point about the depth in the SEC is valid. Alabama has dominated the conference since Nick Saban arrived, and they have made the College Football Playoffs all three seasons.
The Warriors are the favorites to reach the NBA Finals again, but the Western Conference is still much tougher than the East. The San Antonio Spurs won 60-plus games again, and the Houston Rockets are much improved. So the comparison doesn't exactly hold up, but the SEC part of the equation is definitely accurate.
