JC Cox, the sideline reporter on Arkansas State football radio broadcasts and host of "Red Wolf Roll Call," died Sunday. He had been publicly fighting cancer.

Arkansas State Athletics announced his death Monday and called him a cherished member of the radio team since 2022 and "a great friend and inspiration."
Cox launched a GoFundMe in March 2025 after his diagnosis, identifying himself as a real estate broker in Paragould, host of RWRC Radio and a vocalist in the band Fallen Within. He later spoke about oncology appointments and, in a June interview with play-by-play voice Matt Stolz, about leaning on the A-State community during the fight.
The school said Cox left a mark on staff and student-athletes and was deeply devoted to the Red Wolves. Head coach Butch Jones said the impact Cox had on the football program "cannot be measured" and that he will "forever be a part of our A-State family."
As a tribute, the Dean B. Ellis Library clock tower will be lighted scarlet on Saturday, Sept. 26, when Arkansas State hosts Kennesaw State.
Cox also co-hosted the "Outside The Chi" podcast. Colleagues around the Sun Belt remembered him as a genuine advocate for the conference as well as for Arkansas State.
Funeral arrangements were not immediately announced. The athletics department asked that thoughts go to his family, friends and colleagues.
