College football history could be made this weekend thanks to the AP Poll

FCS teams have only been eligible since 2007.

Usually fighting for the No. 25 spot in the AP Poll isn't that glorious of a campaign, but this weekend might prove to be a little different.

FCS team North Dakota State currently ranks No. 27 in the AP Poll, only behind TCU in the "others receiving votes" section. Thanks to a plethora of good matchups in Week 4 of college football, North Dakota State will have a chance to make history by becoming the first FCS team to officially be ranked in the AP Poll.

North Dakota State climbed this high in the poll thanks to a big win over then No. 13 Iowa in Week 3. The Bison are off this week, so they do not have to worry about a loss taking them completely out of the poll. Instead, North Dakota State will have a chance to creep into the poll if any of the teams ahead of them take a loss.

Could that happen? The loser of Tennessee-Florida could conceivably be knocked out of the AP Poll, as could the loser in Arkansas-Texas A&M. Elsewhere, Baylor, Nebraska, and Ole Miss are all playing tough games against conference opponents, meaning a loss could knock them out of the AP Poll as well.

Will North Dakota State be able to do it? I guess we will have to wait and see what Week 4 has in store for us.
