The tight end, who transferred from Howard and signed with the Dukes in late January, was arrested in early February, according to court records. Mosley is facing charges of assault and battery, along with possessing a fake ID. That's not exactly the start JMU had in mind.
The alleged incident happened on Feb. 7, and Mosley's future with the program remains unclear.
JMU acknowledged the situation but didn't offer much beyond that.
"We are aware of an incident that occurred earlier in February," a spokesperson said. "It is being addressed according to department and university policy."
There's also a social media angle.
A video believed to be posted from Mosley's Instagram account began circulating, showing an altercation involving two individuals. The person throwing the punch is not clearly identified in the clip. JMU said it cannot confirm identities in any videos making the rounds.
On the field, Mosley was expected to help right away.
The Dukes lost multiple tight ends to the transfer portal and graduation this offseason, making his addition an important one for depth. He logged more than 600 snaps across two seasons at Howard and drew interest from several programs before choosing JMU.
Now everything is on pause, as the program is waiting to see how this situation plays out.
