During Iowa's 40-10 win over Nebraska, defensive tackle Faith Ekakitie said a Nebraska player directed a racial slur at him.

Ekakitie told Chris Cuellar of the Des Moines Register he didn't want to name the player responsible for issuing the slur.
"Anyone willing to go out of their way and throw that around, even in a competitive environment, I think you're a piece of trash," Ekakitie said, according to Cuellar. "I've been fortunate enough to not have to experience things like that... I think they got what they deserved."
In July, Ekakitie was allegedly held at gunpoint after the Iowa City Police Department said he matched the description of a suspect in a nearby bank robbery. Ekakitie wrote a long Facebook post detailing the event after he was released by authorities.
