Chad Miller, a safety for the Spartans, was stabbed during a fight  in downtown San Jose, according to his father, who spoke to KGO-TV. The stabbing happened either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

"A fight erupted and he ended up getting stabbed. He wasn't initially involved in the fight but somehow he got stabbed," Brad Miller told the TV station. There were no other details.

Chad Miller was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he's expected to recover.

Miller has been in the news before. He missed the 2015 season when he suffered broken bones in his face after a teammate hit him with a skateboard following a disagreement stemming from practice.

Miller, according to his SJSU bio, started three games and appeared in 12 for the Spartans during the 2016 season.
