Controversy explodes as another ref is hit during a high school game

There have been two separate incidents in the past few weeks where high schoolers have taken cheap shots at referees during a football game. Unfortunately, it looks like we have another one.

Glencliff (TN) linebacker Malcolm Easley and official Kyle Gill apparently had an argument before this play, where Easley was claiming that Gill kept getting in his way. Gill says the he told Easley that the officials are part of the game and the players must work around them. Gill says that the very next play is where he was ran over by Easley.

Easley was going to be suspended for the incident until the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association intervened, stating that no suspension was necessary. The TSSAA said that they did not believe that the play was intention and that Easley was making a football playing by running towards the direction of the ball carrier. At this time, it is still unclear whether or not Easley will face punishment for the hit, according to the Gallitan News.
