Could the Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry be coming back?

When Notre Dame went away from scheduling several Big Ten teams, one of the big rivalries that closed was that between the Fighting Irish and Michigan — the two winningest programs in college football history.

Well, according to ND Insider, it looks like the two programs could be coming closer together to making a future schedule.

"I will tell you this, the relationship is good, and it started with Jim [Harbaugh] and coach [Brian] Kelly working together on a desire to play together," said Michigan interim athletic director Jim Hackett. While this doesn't represent a future game between the teams, it definitely does signify a return of what could potentially between a marquee game every year.

All time, the two teams have faced of 42 times. Michigan leads the series 24-17-1.
