Report: DB Jalen Ramsey could actually be the top prospect in this year's draft

It may sound crazy, but the Tennessee Titans just might pull the trigger on this.

Yes, we know, this headline seems a little out there. If anyone's watched the NFL Draft in the last decade alone, the top prospects in classes are typically not defensive backs. Those spots usually go to quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs and sometimes defensive ends. According to a recent report though, one of the top prospects in this year's draft could be defensive back Jalen Ramsey out of Florida State.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com points out that the reason Ramsey is even being discussed as a possibility to be the top guy, is mainly his versatility in the secondary. Ramsey played both corner and safety during his career in Tallahassee — something that is incredibly valuable for defensive backs to have at the next level.

"It's uncommon for a defensive back to rank as the best football player in the draft, but Ramsey is a legitimate difference maker with the skills to fill a variety of roles in the secondary." Brooks reports. "The 6-foot-1, 194-pounder is a rare talent as a cover corner with a high football IQ and nasty demeanor that makes him ideally suited to play inside as a box defender or slot playmaker at the next level. While most teams value quarterbacks and pass rushers as the premium players on their rosters, the potential to nab a Charles Woodson-like defender could prompt scouts and coaches to make a play for Ramsey with the top pick."

So, if the Tennessee Titans announce that they're selecting Jalen Ramsey with its No. 1 overall pick, don't be all that surprised.
